Surf Anywhere

Calypso launches ‘Surf Anywhere’ – a national tour over the Spring and Summer - which aims to introduce children, particularly inner city kids, to surfing by showcasing ‘surf sport’ alternatives to kids not traditionally given access to the sport - taking Dry-land surfing, Street Surfing and Indo-boarding to pupils in inner city schools.   All three activities are ‘surf derivatives’ and promote core fitness, balance and aerobic activity with a big fun factor.

Morgan Law Recruits honey

While many businesses are struggling to survive and the landscape looks eternally bleak, its so good to see an organisation flourishing in the current climate.   We are delighted to say that our new client, Morgan Law is one such example.  About to celebrate their tenth anniversary, Morgan Law is a UK leader in specialist recruitment dedicated to the public and not for profit sectors.

Founding partners, David Morgan and Simon Law have hired honey to help re-assert, protect and continue to help grow their brand in an increasingly competitive recruitment climate – its a time in which many corporate sector recruitment firms are plunging head first into the public sector as they see private sector recruitment budgets freeze or dwindle to nothing.  The Public Sector organisations meanwhile, are enjoying a jobs boom – 46,000 new staff hired in the last nine months, while 20,000 private sector jobs are being axed each week.

The gulf however, between private and public sectors is vast one – the very different, specific needs – both culturally and professionally - of the public sector do not fit with those of the corporate sector and it is this point on which we plan to focus our PR efforts.   Lets hope it’ll be a very Happy Birthday this year for Morgan Law.

'Twittercrat' - whatever next!

We were very surprised when we read the following article by Sarah Knapton in The Daily Telegraph - the Government plans to create a £160,000 civil service job to boost its profile on social networking websites - whatever next!

Local Food - It's not rocket science, but boy is it tasty!

Being total foodies, massive belivers and indeed buyers of 'locally sourced produce', we are having a great time working on a major Mid Wales Local Food campaign.

A Welsh Assembly project with Tourism Partnership Mid Wales, we are out there trying to encourage B&B's, hotels, pubs, restaurants and cafes to buy, cook and serve food from the local area.  Its a no brainer actually - we all know that most people want to eat quality, locally sourced food and are prepared to pay more for it.  Our job is to help convince food tourism business that it'll actually help to grow their business, is a great USP and demand is on the up - a good tactic in a recession, particularly when people are not going abroad and there is going to be a British holidays revival this year.

Even Pirates Do PR

Proof that even pirates from Somalia are concerned about image.   PR used to be an honourable profession.....some would possibly disagree I know, however even spin doctors have their limits.

honey keeps busy

Calypso Soft Drinks
honey has started working with this very well known drinks company to promote its key brands and offer some strategic development for the company.

Its flagship brand, Aquajuice 67 sponsors the British Surfing Junior Team so its off to get some exercise on the beaches of Cornwall for us……..it may prove a bit chilly, but everyone knows that all the best waves turn up in the Autumn!

Our office is now happily overflowing with fruity water, smoothies, mineral waters and fruit juices.   The children are very happy about it and the sample stock is being depleting fast.

Enterprise HQ
Also, we’ve been doing project work with Enterprise HQ, the first and only public/private venture in the UK which promotes home-based business entrepreneurs.

Yourcarehome.co.uk
Plus, we’ve started working with youcarehome.co.uk a genius online directory to help stressed and confused relatives to find a quality care home for their loved ones.  Unlike other online directories, this one looks great, is easy to navigate, features photography of each care home and really does help people find what they need.

Did you know that in 90% of cases, it’s the eldest daughter who is given the task of finding a care for their elderly relatives, usually at very short notice.  The majority of people searching only look at 1.7 homes because the whole sector is a minefield of confusion.  Unsurprisingly 60% are ultimately unhappy with their choice.  Lets hope yourcarehome.co.uk changes those depressing statistics.

Futuresonic

There's no doubt that Manchester has come a long way in the last 50 years.  From post industrial run-of-the mill northern city, to a hugely influential, creative melting pot.  Everyone knows about the city's impressive musical heritage but more recently, events like the Manchester International Festival are helping to contribute to its growing sophistication.  A particularly interesting event is Futuresonic which bills itself as"5 days and nights of live music, art premieres, exhibitions, club nights and events".  Mixing digital culture with art and music, if you're over that way we reckon it's worth a look.
